Describing Programs: Davis Reading Program for Young Learners

Change is coming! Davis will soon implement new standards for Facilitator websites consistent with our transition to new branding and messaging.

  • The correct title of the program is Davis Reading Program for Young Learners.  English-language web sites should use the correct, full title of the program in any list of services offered, or in the title or first reference on any page which describes the program.   A near-translation should be used in sites in other languages, subject to specific language recommended  by the DDA of affiliation.   An abbreviated reference, such as “Young Learners Program,” may be used in navigational arrays or in secondary references on the page.  (That is, references to the program on parts of the page after the initial reference.)
  • Any description of the program should include language explaining that the parent or other support person will be present for at least half of the program.  Example: “At least half or more of the program time will also include the parent or support person participating in helping the child with the new skills and techniques.” [Note: it is acceptable for facilitators have a stronger requirement for parental/support parent presence; if so, your site can indicate that.  The “half” (or 50%) requirement is merely the DDAI minimum standard.]
  • The program should not be described as a corrective program or treatment or intervention for dyslexia.
