Advertising on your Web Site

  Site Content & Design
  • Facilitator web sites must not contain any context-sensitive advertising, such as Google or Yahoo driven ads.   A “context-sensitive” ad is any advertisement that is automatically generated to display random advertising on your web site. We have found that such advertising links often lead directly to our competitors, sometimes with web sites that contain misleading or derogatory information about dyslexia or the Davis program.
  • It is acceptable to maintain a separate “links to other resources” page or section that can include links that you have screened and which lead to other dyslexia organizations or programs. Even though some these may be our competitors, it can help to build web traffic to exchange links with other sites through a reciprocal arrangement, where the other site has agreed to link back you. We trust that Facilitators will use good judgment in deciding which sites to link.
  • It is acceptable to carry advertisements for specific books, products or services that are not directly related to Davis as long as the ads are displayed in such a way as to make clear that they are not part the Davis program or endorsed by DDAI. For example, a separate page on the web site with links to local hotels and restaurants, or a page with links to various books sold on Amazon.com would be acceptable.
  • Facilitator websites should not have larger banner ads or popups promoting their webhosting company or services, or other advertising tied to free web hosting accounts.  Typically a paid, premium account will be required to remove such advertising.  A small notation and/or link in the page footer which provides credit to a web hosting service, web designer, or theme designer is acceptable.
