Facilitators wishing to use an e-bulletin or e-newsletter to promote their practices or keep in touch with clients should follow the guidelines listed below.
- Please seek approval of your first newsletter prior to dissemination from webmaster@dyslexia.com
- Please also add the email address webmaster@dyslexia.com to your subscription list.
- The same rules for use of Davis trademarks that are applied to your web site should be applied to your e-newsletter as well.
- If your newsletter references your Davis practice or includes a Davis logo, please also include a trademark notice and a link to the www.dyslexia.com web site. For purposes of your e-newsletter, to conserve space, a shortened notice is acceptable. Example:
Professional services described as Davis® or Davis Dyslexia Correction®, may only be provided by persons who are trained and licensed as Davis Facilitators by Davis Dyslexia Association International.
- After your first e-newsletter has been approved, you do not need pre-approval of subsequent e-newsletters in the same format, if they contain articles of general interest, success stories from your practice, announcements of events or offerings from your practice, or other material not specific to Davis. If your e-newsletter contains a new or original article about Davis methods or practice, or specific advice or suggestions related to Davis methods, please obtain pre-approval for that article.
- Don’t be a spammer! Please only send email to people who have signed up to receive the email on your web site, or have asked in writing (such as signing a list in your office) to be included. Your email should also include clear instructions on how to unsubscribe or opt-out.
- Respect Copyrights: As with your web site or any other publication, if you incorporate articles written by others, or artwork or photograph by others, be sure that you have obtained permission from the owner of the material you are using.
- Low-Cost Email Services: Don’t try to send email to a large number of addresses from your own computer or email account unless you have specialized software. You can run into trouble and run the risk of making embarrassing and costly mistakes, such as accidentally revealing all the names on your email list in your cc: field. Here are some services that offer free introductory plans that can handle subscription and bulk email needs:
- MailChimp: (Free for up to 2,000 contacts)
- Benchmark Email (Free plan for up to 2,000 subscribers)
- Sender (Free plan for up to 2,500 subscribers)
