Facebook Business Pages

If you would like to promote your practice on Facebook, please set up a separate Facebook business page. This is very easy to do and does not cost anything. Please follow these guidelines:

  1. Remember that the word “Davis” should not be in the page name or the page URL on facilitator pages. Ideally, the page name should be tied to your own business name; a page name tied to geographic location is also acceptable. Example: https://www.facebook.com/newmexicodyslexia/
  2. Please include your full name and contact information in the “about” or “impressum” section of the page. At a minimum, this should include your general geographic location and a way that you can be contacted outside of Facebook (email / phone / and/or full postal mailing address).
  3. Please include a Davis trademark notice in the “about” section of the page. It is acceptable to use an abbreviated form of notice, as long as it conveys that  Davis® (or Davis™) is a protected trademark, and that only licensed providers can offer Davis based services.
  4. Please include a reference or link to www.dyslexia.com or www.davismethod.org or the DDAI Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/DavisDyslexia/
  5. It is not necessary to get advance permission to publish a Facebook page, but please notify webmaster@dyslexia.com immediately when the page is published. Please keep in mind that we can’t “like” or “follow” your page unless we know about it — and your posts will reach a much wider audience if we are able to follow your page and share your content. Please make sure to include a link to your page when you tell us about it !

Personal Pages on Facebook

We do not need to know about your personal (profile) page; however you are free to use your personal page to join and participate in Facebook groups, including the closed private, facilitator’s only group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/davis.facilitators.only/ and the open public Davis support group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/davisdyslexia/

Please do not use personal pages to promote your practicea dedicated Facebook business page is much better for that and will help preserve your privacy. There are also serious security concerns that come up when you leave too much information on your personal page exposed to public view, such as your list of Facebook friends or details about your personal life.

Please note that we will not share videos or photos posted to your personal pages to other areas on Facebook, such as Facebook/davisdyslexia

Sharing Client Photos and Videos on Facebook

We love seeing client testimonials and pictures of your clients on Facebook, but please be sure that you have written permission from adult clients and from a parent of any child you work with before posting their full name or any picture or video that shows their face, as well as any unique or unusual clay model they have created, or other identifiable samples of work.

We do not need to have an advance copy of the permission or waiver from your client, but please keep a copy for yourself in the event that there is a future complaint or request to take down personally identifiable content.

Please keep Facebook terms of service and naming policies in mind. Your personal profile page on Facebook must use your real name (according to their rules) — so you will not be able to set up a separate personal profile for business use, without running the risk that Facebook will later lock, suspend, or delete the account. There is no cost to set up a business page, and no limit on the number of business pages you can have — so that is why a business page is the best way to promote your practice.
