Please obtain appropriate permission for use of photographs and other graphic images on your website.
It is never appropriate to take or copy pictures or graphic elements from other websites without specific permission to reuse their illustrations and artwork.
The following general considerations apply:
- Photographs you have taken: You may freely use any photographs that you have taken or which were taken at your direction. However, if the photographs show the faces of other people, be sure to get permission to post the photographs. This is especially important for photos of your clients; we recommend that you always secure written permission and a release from the client or client’s parent before posting a recognizable image of a client.
- Photographs or drawings from DDAI websites: You must request permission in advance before using any photographic image or drawing from www.dyslexia.com or another DDAI-owned website. In most cases, we do not have distribution rights to images and so we will not be able to provide permission for outside uses.
- Photographs or drawings from other Davis Facilitator websites: You must request advance permission from the facilitator who owns the website.
- Stock Images: Please do not reuse stock images that you see on our websites, blog, or in our e-newsletter. The rights to use these images can generally be purchased from websites such as iStock or Adobe Stock; in many cases the images may be available free for general use from sites such as Pixabay.
- Book covers and merchandise: It is acceptable to use small or low-resolution photographs of book covers in connection with a link to purchase the book, and also to use photographs of Davis merchandise displayed at our website at shop.dyslexia.com.
